About CAMERON

Cameron has been connected with Burscough on and off since he was just eight years old, which makes his progression into the Academy a particularly pleasing one for the club.

He may not be the biggest centre half on the pitch, but size should never be mistaken for heart. Cam is brave, competitive and never shies away from a challenge. He combines that toughness with real composure in possession and is extremely comfortable receiving and playing under pressure.

He has the confidence to step out from the back, make decisions and play football — qualities that are becoming increasingly important for the modern centre back.

Having known Cameron and his family for many years, the club has watched his development from a young age and is delighted that the next stage of his journey will continue at Burscough.

A determined young player with plenty of character and a great deal more development still to come.

"I’m excited to start my college course at Burscough Academy in September. Burscough was always my 1st choice when I heard they were starting an education programme. After playing for Burscough a few years ago for a few seasons I knew what a good set up it was. They have only grown stronger since then and the facilities are amazing. All the staff, both on and off the pitch are really supportive and nothing is ever too much trouble. After already playing a few games together the lads all get along and next year is looking exciting. I can’t wait to get started."

About MASON

Mason is a proper character and someone who brings so much personality to the Academy group.
He has the sense of humour of someone twice his age and is already one of the big personalities in the changing room. His character is infectious — he lights up the room and is a lad his teammates love having around.
That personality comes through in his football, too. Mason is tenacious, competitive and never shirks a challenge. He will always stand up for his teammates and gives absolutely everything the moment he crosses that white line.
He is thought extremely highly of at Burscough, and the next stage for Mason is about confidence — getting him to believe in his own ability as much as everyone around him already does.
The talent is there, and with continued hard work and belief in himself, there is no reason he can't really push on.
A fantastic character, a brilliant teammate, and a young player with plenty more to come.

About CHARLIE

Charlie is an energetic and exciting young player who continues to impress every time he steps onto the pitch.
Having adapted to a role at right back, he brings huge amounts of energy to the position and is always willing to get forward and support the attack. He is also more than capable of playing higher up the pitch when required.
One of Charlie's biggest strengths is his consistency. Regularly a nine-out-of-ten performer, he is someone the team can rely on to produce week after week. He is slick on the ball, comfortable in possession, and has the confidence and technical ability to play his way out of difficult situations.
That quality is matched by a fantastic work rate and a genuine enthusiasm for the game.
There is plenty of potential here, and the focus within the Academy will be on developing every aspect of his game and helping him become an even more complete player.
A talented, consistent young player with a great attitude and an exciting future ahead.

About ANDREW

Andrew is a hugely talented young player with an incredible amount of natural ability.
Technically, he has all the tools to become an outstanding footballer and has consistently shown that he can compete with some of the very best players at his age.
But Andrew’s game isn’t just about ability.
He is a feisty character, a real fighter and someone who will scrap his way through whatever situation a game puts in front of him. He plays on the front foot, competes for everything and certainly isn’t afraid of a full-blooded challenge.
The next stage of Andrew’s journey is about making sure he has the right environment, guidance and support around him to allow that ability to thrive.
With the right people beside him, continued hard work and belief in his own game, there is a huge amount of potential to unlock.

About ARCHIE

Archie is an extremely versatile young player and someone the team can trust to perform in a number of different positions.
Already part of the Burscough youth setup before joining the Academy, Archie is another great example of the pathway the club is working to build.
Consistency is one of his biggest strengths. Regularly a nine-out-of-ten performer, he can be relied upon every time he steps onto the pitch. He is strong, competitive and will fight for every challenge, which makes him an extremely difficult player to get past — but there is far more to his game than his physical qualities.
He is comfortable on the ball and always looks to play forward when the opportunity is there. His understanding of the game out of possession is just as impressive, consistently on the right side and ready to win the ball back.
Most importantly for his development, Archie listens. He wants to learn, takes information on board and is genuinely coachable — qualities that will give him every chance to keep improving.
A strong, intelligent and dependable young player with an exciting opportunity to keep progressing through the Burscough pathway.

About ALFIE

Alfie is a Wigan lad with the potential to go a very long way in the game.
He was spotted in Burscough's very first fixture, and there was something about him straight away. From that moment, bringing him to the club became the priority — and everything possible was done to make it happen.
His biggest weapon is frightening pace. Give Alfie space in behind, or take him on in a straight race for the ball, and there is only ever going to be one winner.
But pace alone does not make a player. Alfie has a first-class attitude — he listens, he wants to learn, and, most importantly, he is prepared to put the work in.
That commitment has already been rewarded. He has done enough to earn the opportunity to sign first-team forms — the first player from this Academy group to do so, and the first of many. It is something to be incredibly proud of, though knowing Alfie, he will see it as the start rather than the achievement.
He is a special young player and a genuine prospect for the future. How far he goes will ultimately be down to him, but the ability and the attitude to play at a very high level are both there.
The Academy is delighted to have Alfie at Burscough, and prouder still to play a small part in his journey.

About JAYDEN

Jayden is a big, powerful forward with a natural instinct for goal — but there is far more to his game than finishing.
He has the football brain of a central midfielder, comfortable dropping deep to receive the ball, link play, then turn and drive directly at defenders. For a player of his size he is technically excellent, offering something genuinely different in the final third.
The strongest praise, though, is reserved for the person. Jayden is an outstanding young man — polite, respectful and hardworking, someone who genuinely wants to better himself. Five minutes in his company is enough to understand why his family are so proud of him.
He has chosen a pathway he believes in, and his attitude and work ethic leave little doubt that he will make a success of it. Talent opens doors in football; attitude and hard work decide what a player does with them. Jayden has all three.
A fantastic young man with a huge amount of potential, and a player the Academy is proud to have on board.

About WADE

Wade is a young goalkeeper who is thought very highly of at Burscough.
The potential is clear, and with the right guidance, attention and environment, the club believes Wade has all the attributes to develop into a very good goalkeeper.
Goalkeeping asks for far more than technical ability. Confidence, decision-making, communication and belief all come with experience, and the Academy's role is to give Wade the support and opportunities he needs to keep progressing.
That progress is already being driven by Wade himself. He has shown a real commitment to his development, attending the first team's goalkeeper sessions every week — training in a demanding environment, taking instruction at a higher level and growing visibly as a result. It is exactly the kind of dedication that turns a talented young keeper into a very good one.
The ability is already there. The next step is helping him find consistency, keep learning and build real confidence in his own game.
Wade is a great lad who genuinely wants to improve, and there is plenty more still to come.

About LEON

Leon is one of the quieter members of the group, but a young goalkeeper with a huge amount of natural ability.
Shy and unassuming, he tends to let his performances do the talking. He has all the attributes to develop into an excellent goalkeeper and has already shown glimpses of just how much potential he possesses.
The next stage of Leon's development is about confidence — encouraging him to express himself and helping him recognise the ability that everyone around him can already see. Technically there is so much to work with, and as his presence continues to grow, so will his game.
A fantastic young lad, a pleasure to have within the Academy, and a goalkeeper with a very exciting future ahead of him.

About Stephen

A current first-team player and an experienced educator, our Head of Academy brings years of teaching experience to the Linnets — including a spell as a tutor at Marine Football Academy and extensive work within SEN provisions, delivering inclusive education the right way. He knows exactly what it takes to develop young players on the grass and in the classroom, and he now leads our academy full-time.

About AARON

I started out as an analyst, but I quickly realised my real passion was out on the pitch — coaching players and helping them improve every single day. Now I get to do exactly that, full-time.

Their Role

Aaron completed the same education programme our academy players will be learning at Burscough academy between 2017 and 2019, before progressing to university and earning a degree in Sports and Exercise Science. He went on to join Fleetwood Town as an analyst across the U9s to U21s — but soon realised coaching, not analysis, was where his passion lay. Now UEFA C qualified and coaching full-time, he delivers private 1-to-1 sessions with players from top academy environments, developing them both technically and tactically.
