A perfect opening day at the EFT Community Ground as Burscough FC kicked off the new season with an outstanding 4-1 victory over a very strong Prestwich Heys side.

In front of 396 supporters, the fans were treated to a competitive, entertaining encounter that showcased everything this football club is about.

The scoring was opened by Owen Fisher-Jones on what was an incredibly emotional day for him personally, following the recent loss of a much-loved family member. Owen, that one was for them. 💚

Callum Laird doubled our advantage from the penalty spot shortly after the break before Prestwich pulled one back with a soft goal. The visitors then pushed hard for an equaliser, but Burscough stood firm.

With fresh legs introduced, Joel Skillen stole the show, producing two outstanding late finishes to put the game beyond doubt and seal a fantastic opening-day win for Staffo's men.

A special mention must go to our incredible youth section, coaches, volunteers, parents and supporters who completed a four-hour sponsored walk from Southport before arriving at the ground in a sea of green. The atmosphere they created was simply unforgettable and a perfect example of what this football club stands for.

Today wasn't just about three points. It was about togetherness, community and showing what Burscough Football Club is all about.
